1 Kings begins with the final days of David and the start of his son's reign, King Solomon. We continue with the period of kings with the Israelite nation split into 2: The Kingdom of Israel in the North and the Kingdom of Judah in the South.

Worth noting is that King Solomon builds a "permanent" house for God, the Temple, fulfilling God's word to David who wanted to build the Temple himself.
